Summer Dance Mini-Sessions
THe summer dance classes are offered as an introduction or as a continuation of our regular dance program. The focus during the summer will be to allow students the opportunity to try a new dance style, continue development and keep active. A variety of dance styles will be offered and new students are encouraged to register. This is a great opportunity to introduce your child to dance. Ballet/Tap Combo classes must purchase tap shoes before the first class. No classes will be held the week of July 1st-5th.

The Wood Dale Park District Dance Program consists of two semesters; Fall and a Winter/Spring. A Spring Dance Recital is held in May. New students, ages 3.5-9 years, may only register for classes that are listed as a Beginning or Beginning/Continuing level class. If you are a new student interested in registering for a continuing class, you must have the instructor's approval. After the early registration deadline, we will cancel classes, combine classes, or add new students as enrollment dictates.
Dancin' Darlin's: This class combines tap, ballet, pre-jazz and personality singing.
Let's Dance: This program includes tap, ballet, and jazz dance.
Theatrical Dance: Focus is more on "performance" based dance. It's a fun way to learn to be more expressive on stage while dancing to songs from great Broadway musicals. This is a different kind of jazz class!
Lyrical Dance: This style of dance incorporates a fusion of ballet and jazz performed through fluid movements characterized by the expression of the dancer's emotions.
Girls should wear a leotard and tights. Based of their dance class, participants shild wear pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes, or black jazz shoes. Boys are expected to wear a t-shirt and pants/shorts. It is recommended parents confirm the class is running before purchasing dance shoes.
Program Dates & Fees
The approximate cost of the recital costume and accessories is $50 for youth sizes. Adult sizes may be slightly higher. The fees include payment for the Fall Session and the costume fee. Because costumes are made to order, refunds will not be granted after the refund deadline. Participants who choose not to continue in the Winter/Spring semester must request their costume deposit refunded by Mid-December. Registration for the Winter/Spring semester will be in December. If there is a balance due on the costume/accessories, it will be billed to you at the time of registration.
Payments received after the deadline will be charged an additional $15 late fee per child, per class. If payment and late fee is not recieved within two weeks of original deadline, child may be removed from the program until payment is made.
The Wood Dale Park District's Dance Team, Starstruck, will be holding open auditions on May 29th and 30th at the Wood Dale Park District Rec. Complex from 4:15 - 6:15 p.m. each night.
